According to a new study conducted by Cisco, the video will be the main contributor to internet consumption by 2019 at 80%. Another report by Forrester, email leads with videos has a whopping 200-300% increase in click-through rate. The list goes on here. Having introduced Watch, a video tab in Facebook’s mobile app in early August this year, Facebook intends to leverage on its more than 2 billion users worldwide that are constantly connected on its social network who also consume a lot of videos while on it.
“Watch is a platform for all creators and publishers to find an audience, build a community of passionate fans, and earn money for their work,” Facebook’s Director of Product Daniel Danker wrote, is now ready to roll out bigtime in 2018.
You may think, well that’s right up YouTube’s alley but Facebook has a grander aspiration which includes taking on rivals Amazon, Netflix, Google, and Apple. As the video is the big ticket to advertising dollars, Facebook is adamant and with a deep pocket to go head-on with these companies.
